Sigma Eyecare Optometrists is located at Vancouver-Burnaby border serving residents from Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and Surrey.

The clinic is in the Renfrew-collingwood district which borders the neighbourhood of Killarney and with Maywood to the east,  also member of the Collingwood BIA which stretches from Joyce street to Boundary Road. We are accessible from Vancouver via Kingsway, and from North Burnaby via boundary road and only a 20 minute drive from New Westminster.

Just across the way is the famous Centre Park in Burnaby, the most beautiful quaint city park with facilities such as; a swimming pool, playgrounds, walking trails and of course the Swangard Stadium too. Metrotown, Burnaby's busiest shopping hub is only 5 mins away by car providing a plethora of fantastic eateries, local products, and cuisine for avid shoppers.

Directions and Parking

Sigma Eyecare Optometrists is located on the north-west corner of the boundary-kingsway junction and adjacent to the iconic BC Tel (Telus Burnaby building) which is on the north east side.

The clinic is located on the 2nd floor of the Boundary Plaza building. Take the elevator up from the carpark to the 2nd floor, or if you are accessing from the ground level look behind the Starbucks to find glass doors to enter. From here you can take the elevators or stairs up to the 2nd floor. 

Arriving by Skytrain

Coming from Metropolis at Metrotown, exit the mall onto Kingsway/BC-1A/BC-99A N heading east towards Vancouver. You'll pass the Telus building on your right as you approach Boundary road. Go through the intersection at Boundary and Kingsway then take you next right onto Ormidale avenue where you'll find parkade and street parking options. You are now at the Boundary Plaza building. Our clinic is on the 2nd floor.

Dr. Aaron Chiam

Dr. Chiam is the co-founder and lead optometrist at Sigma Eyecare. Dr. Chiam developed a strong interest in binocular vision, specifically in vision therapy and continues to enjoy working with patients in this area.  He started a practice inside Sears Optical in Metrotown Shopping Centre, Burnaby, BC where he has spent the years between 2010-2017 building a large patient base.  His practice was closed due to the closure of Sears Canada. He has also consulted in refractive surgical care and medical optometry.

Dr. Cleo Yeh

Dr. Yeh is the co-founder of Sigma Eyecare and from Vancouver, British Columbia. She earned a degree in Biology from the UBC as well an honours distinction from New England College of Optometry. Through her clinical experience, she fostered an interest in anterior segment care particularly through work with contact lenses. She hopes to carry on helping her patients in this aspect of the field.

Myopia Management

Myopia or Near-Sightedness is estimated to affect approximately 30% of the Canadian population with 6% of 6-8 year olds affected increasing to 29% for 11-13 year olds. While people with prescriptions of -7.00 or higher are at elevated risk of eye diseases such as retinal detachment, myopic macular degeneration and glaucoma, even prescriptions between -3.00 and -6.00 have up to a 10x risk for these issues.


Refractive Surgery Co-Management

We work with your surgeon of choice and perform pre-surgical and post-surgical assessments on your eyes to ensure optimal results of your laser refractive surgery. Pre-surgery exams require some extra measurements be taken in order determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.


Pediatrics

Children eye exams are recommended once a year.  It is important to not only ensure that your child can see clearly but they are using their eyes efficiently especially in today’s world filled with digital devices and online learning.

Cataract Co-Management

Before cataract surgery, we will initiate dry eye management to ensure that the best cataract post-operative results are achieved.  After cataract surgery, it is recommended that six weeks after surgery that you visit an optometrist to evaluate the vision and any possible surgical post-operative complications such as posterior capsular opacity or residual inflammation.
